Today we celebrated my niece’s 1st birthday. Since her name is Heidi, my sister focused the birthday theme around the children’s story, Heidi, written by Johanna Spyri. If you are unfamiliar with the story it is about a little girl who lives in the Swiss Alps. The decorations for the party had a very “onetoberfest” feel to it. It was a small gathering, but those who were there dressed up to make it even more fun! The men wore lederhosen and the women wore dirndl outfits. The best part was watching my niece eat her smash cake and open her presents. I am glad we got to spend this special day with her.

Tomorrow, a wordless blog with pictures, please! 🙂
Seriously, what a wonderful way to celebrate both your niece and life in general!
